1. Summary

Larkin: Symptom Log ("Larkin", "the app") is a journal for symptoms, medications, sleep, energy, mood and periods. Everything you enter is stored only on your phone. There is no account and no server for your journal. We never receive your health information. It leaves your phone only when you choose to share a report or a file. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking in the app.

2. Health information you enter, and where it is kept

When you use the app it stores, in a database inside the app's private storage on your device:

This is health information (in the EU/UK, "data concerning health", a special category of personal data). Before you can use the app, we ask you to confirm two things separately: that you agree the app stores the health information you enter on your phone, and that you are 18 or older. You can read this policy and the Terms from that screen. If you do not agree, nothing is saved and the app cannot be used.

Insights are calculated on your phone from your own entries, using fixed comparisons (no artificial intelligence and nothing sent anywhere). They show patterns, not causes.

Automatic copies on your phone. To protect you from losing your journal if the database file is damaged, the app keeps up to three recent copies of the database, and keeps a damaged file aside instead of deleting it. These copies stay inside the app's private storage on the same phone.

Cloud backup is turned off. On iPhone the app excludes its database and copies from iCloud and computer backups. On Android the app excludes its data from Google cloud backup; when you move to a new Android phone using a direct device-to-device transfer, your journal may be copied to the new phone. If you delete the app or lose your phone, we cannot recover your journal.

3. Reminders

If you turn on a reminder (the daily check-in reminder, or a reminder for a medication) and allow notifications, the app schedules local notifications on your phone. They are created by the app on your device — no server is involved and nothing is sent to us. The app asks for notification permission only when you turn on a reminder.

Please note that a medication reminder shows the medication's name, and the dose if you entered one, in the notification, which may be visible on your lock screen. You can turn reminders off in the app, or hide notification previews in your phone's settings.

4. When information leaves your phone — only when you choose

We do not see, receive or store any report or file you share.

5. What we collect

Nothing. The app does not send your health information, identifiers, usage data, crash reports or location to us or to any third party. It contains no advertising, analytics, attribution, crash-reporting or sign-in services, and does not use the advertising identifier.

6. Sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent or share your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. Apple and Google may collect information about your download and use of apps under their own privacy policies.

7. Your choices and rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your data-protection supervisory authority.

8. Security

The journal is kept in the app's private storage, protected by your phone's operating-system sandbox and device encryption. Anyone who can unlock your phone can open the app; please use a device passcode.

9. Age

The app is for adults 18 and older. We ask you to confirm your age before first use. We do not knowingly allow children to use the app and do not collect information from anyone.

10. Medical disclaimer

This app does not diagnose or treat any condition. Reports are written from what you entered; they are self-reported and are not a diagnosis.

11. Changes to this policy

If we add features that change how data is handled — for example purchases, analytics or crash reporting — we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent in the app before any new data leaves your phone.
